Sacrum in Opera
Concert from 2016
Concert from 2016
Is there a place for God in a musical theatre? Can opera bring us closer to Him? Which composers have explored this topic? What were their intentions and what did their musical imagination tell them? The answers can be found in the music of G. Verdie, J. Massenet, Tchaikovsky, and other composers creating over the centuries.
The repertoire of Sacrum in Opera consists of arias of opera characters who in their life, or at some its stage, turn towards Heaven. Their prayer is full of passionate feelings – praise, glory, but also bitterness, questions about sense or cry for mercy. Using the rich musical stylistic means and reaching for personal sensitivity, we strive to reflect the sincerity of this dialogue and to reflect the age-old longing for what is holy and perfect.
